Daniel Austin
Daniel Austin is a naturalist, travel writer and tour leader, who has written several guidebooks over the past couple of decades, and worked on scores of others in an editorial capacity. He first cut his teeth in the travel publishing world on the otherworldly island nation of Madagascar, which he continues to visit regularly to this day.
But he has since expanded his horizons, and nowadays spends his time exploring various corners of the globe, both on expedition cruises and leading overland tours. His recently published travel books include guides to Madagascar, South America, and Barbados, as well as a wildlife guide for Madagascar, and a travel-themed quiz book.
Daniel particularly enjoys enlightening travelling audiences about his twin passions of natural history and linguistics; he holds degrees in the latter from the University of Cambridge and University College London. He has also given lectures at land-based venues including the Royal Geographical Society and Oxford University.
